Former Big Brother contestants are speaking out about microaggressions that fans have been calling out.
Fans have been pointing out some of what Drew Campbell has said in recent days.
“…I hope Taylor and LaLa are here so they can clean the house,” he was heard saying.
He also, at one point, said that he wanted LaLa to be the first in jury so she “can make us food” while in the jury house.
In another live feeds moment, Drew was speaking to Haley.
Haley said that maybe she would be able to make it through the week without getting screamed at. Drew responded, “I think the people that like would probably scream at you are Have Nots (Taylor & Lala) & like they’re probably ready to scream at anybody”
This is not a complete list, but just some of what is being pointed out.
Since some of these moments have gone viral, some former BB Houseguests have spoken out.
Jason De Puy speaks out
Evicted BB28 houseguest Jason De Puy spoke out on X.
I’ve been careful about commenting on the racial dynamics in the house because I don’t think every uncomfortable dynamic automatically means someone is intentionally being racist.
BUT… I do think it’s fair to ask why certain people are allowed to be emotional, frustrated, loud or upset — while Lala and Taylor displaying those same emotions suddenly seems to be getting characterized very differently.
And when the people being isolated from the power structure also happen to be the Black women in the house… I think it’s worth paying attention to.
I’m not interested in telling anyone what’s in these houseguests’ hearts. I’m just watching the behavior, and some of these patterns are making me uncomfortable.
Morgan Pope speaks out
Morgan Pope wrote a statement on X.
Let me make this crystal clear. I am deeply disturbed by the microaggressive behavior we’re seeing in the Big Brother house this season. I’ve spoken about this on my stream before & I want to make my stance just as clear here.
Now, this may not be what you want to hear but I’m going to be honest. I can’t be your first line of defense for everything. Some of you feel that I’m not doing enough when it comes to speaking out about these issues & are asking me to be your puppet rather than allowing me the time & space to have my own voice on it.
I lived this experience & I’m still trying to process it. BB28 being the first season I’m watching directly after mine has been extremely exhausting & overwhelming, especially considering the issues surfacing within that house. I’ve contemplated countless times the proper direction in which to address these issues while also taking the space to manage my own feelings. It’s important that I’m intentional about how I navigate these conversations, especially as a Big Brother alum.
As a streamer, I do my best to keep my discussions about BB centered around the game because I don’t want to contribute to dogpiling. However, that doesn’t mean I’m going to shy away from calling out issues. I understand a lot of you are angry & I’m right there with you.
My role in this community is to provide a positive & safe space while also being mindful of the words I use, how I communicate them & how those messages are received. I genuinely care about this community & the conversations we have here.
I’m doing my best with all of this & I know I won’t always handle everything perfectly. I just ask that you extend me some grace as we get through this season. Again, I highly encourage y’all to take breaks & give yourselves some space when things become too much. Mental health is so important! Anyway, if you’ve made it this far… I appreciate you for taking the time to read this
Former Big Brother 26 winner Chelsie Baham speaks out
Chelsie Baham posted a message on Threads.
“Just because alumni don’t speak on something immediately doesn’t mean we don’t see it, and it certainly doesn’t mean we don’t care. When the conversation involves microaggressions, racism, and the experiences of Black houseguests, I believe it deserves more than a quick reaction. It deserves intentionality, thought, and care,” she wrote. “And for those of us who are Black, who have actually lived in that house and experienced some of these things firsthand, allow us the space and time to process what we’re seeing before expecting us to speak on it. Silence in the moment should not be mistaken for indifference. Sometimes we’re processing something that isn’t just commentary for us, it’s personal.”
Former contestant Claire Rehfuss speaks out
On X, Claire posted, “sh-t talking is a core part of Big Brother. Everyone in that house sh-t talks and all of your faves have sh-t talked. microaggressions are another thing – saying a black woman will be “aggressive” is f-ked up. saying someone is playing a bad game is just Big Brother.”
