Malachi Barton is showing off his shirtless body in the first teaser for his upcoming new series Coven Academy!
The 19-year-old Zombies and Camp Rock 3 actor stars as Jake, a magnetic warlock with a dangerous side in the new show, which is now set to premiere on Freeform, after previously being announced for Disney Channel.
Recently, it was revealed how Malachi got cast in the show, and how his role was expanded.
What is Coven Academy about?
In the haunted heart of New Orleans, Coven Academy follows three teenage witches and their dangerously charming warlock peers at an elite magic boarding school where power is currency, secrets are lethal and attraction is a liability. Caught between ancient supernatural wars and forbidden love interests, the coven must decide how far they’re willing to go to protect their city—and themselves.
Who else stars in Coven Academy?
In addition to Malachi, the series also stars Malina Pauli Weissman as Briar, a fiercely independent New Yorker who discovers she’s a witch; Jordan Leftwich as Sasha, a deeply empathic student who can read minds; Ora Duplass as Tegan, an irreverent time-bending witch; Louis Thresher as Ollie, a hungry, newly turned vampire; and Tiffani Thiessen as Miss Graves, the formidable and glamorous head of the school.
Devon Sawa serves as a special guest star, playing Mr Cole, a brilliant and charismatic warlock professor.
The recurring cast includes Malachi‘s Zombies co-star Swayam Bhatia as McKenna, Descendants: Wicked Wonderland‘s Brendon Tremblay as Alexander, Keegan Connor Tracy as Tamora, BJ Harrison as Agnes and Nathaniel Logan McIntyre as Teese.
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series creator Tim Federle also serves as creator on this show, as well as executive producer.
When does Coven Academy premiere?
The upcoming teen drama is told in a “bingeable new format,” and “the story unfolds through a series of fast-paced chapters designed to pull audiences deeper into the magic at every turn.”
Coven Academy will premiere on Thursday, October 1st on Freeform at 8 pm ET/PT. The next day, the full season will drop on Disney+, Hulu, and Freeform on Demand.
