Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds have announced a takeover at Brighton’s legendary independent record shop Resident, ahead of their huge homecoming show. Find all the details below.

Cave and co. are due to headline the seaside city’s Preston Park on Friday July 31, as part of the band’s current UK and European headline tour. Support will come from The Flaming Lips, English Teacher, Cate Le Bon and Warmduscher.

Now, it’s been confirmed that The Bad Seeds will take over Resident as part of a series of activities in Brighton around their big gig.

The shop is set to host a merch pop-up with a selection of existing and new items on offer, including a range specially designed for the Preston Park date – only available at Resident and the concert itself.

Fans will also be able to get their hands on an exclusive tote bag made in collaboration with Resident, as well as some classic Bad Seeds and Cave Things items.

The record shop is stocking a limited-edition vinyl release (details to follow), too, and offering discounts across the group’s album catalogue, and giveaways. What’s more, a special post box will allow fans to send physical letters to Cave’s Red Hand Files.

Elsewhere across the same weekend, Cave is taking over Brighton’s Duke Of York’s Picturehouse for a series of curated screenings. Speaking in a previous statement about the upcoming live show, Cave said: “I am thrilled beyond words to return to my beloved Brighton with The Bad Seeds to play Preston Park. It’s a homecoming! It’s going to be big, bad and beautiful. An epic show!!!”

The gig serves as a UK-exclusive performance for Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, and comes in support of their acclaimed 2024 album ‘Wild God’ (see the full stage times here). It follows their performance at Dublin’s Malahide Castle last month, where they covered The Pogues’ ‘A Rainy Night In Soho’.

Cave and his band are currently out in Europe, and played a set at Open’er 2026 last week. NME described the show as “a potted run-through of their impressive discography”, adding that “there was a giddy sense of chaos to the whole thing”.

They have since appeared at NOS Alive, and will take to the stage at Mad Cool tomorrow (Saturday July 11). The group’s other European summer dates include Way Out West, ØYA and Rock En Seine. Earlier this year, they headed out on the road in Australia and New Zealand.

In May, Cave revealed that the Bad Seeds were “messing around” in the studio with the “vague idea of making a new record” as the follow-up to ‘Wild God’.

“This morning, I am going to Islington to mess around in the studio,” he said, adding that he would be working with his bandmates Martyn P. Casey, Thomas Wydler, Jim Sclavunos and Warren Ellis.

Cave appears on Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea’s 2026 debut solo album, ‘Honora’, alongside Radiohead‘s Thom Yorke. He also recorded a new version of ‘Red Right Hand’ for Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.
