Christopher Nolan‘s Interstellar is set to be screened at The O2 in London with a 65-piece orchestra next year.

Two showings, featuring the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, acclaimed conductor and Hans Zimmer-collaborator, Matt Dunkley as well as Roger Sayer, the organist personally selected by Zimmer to perform the original Interstellar soundtrack, will be screened at the venue for one day only on May 23, 2027.

Tickets for the screenings will go on sale this Friday (September 11) and can be purchased here. A pre-sale will also be held the day before (September 10) and can be purchased here.

The 2014 sci-fi movie, sees a former NASA pilot (Matthew McConaughey) embark on a mission to save mankind. The film also stars Anne Hathaway, Sir Michael Caine, Jessica Chastain and Casey Affleck.

Timothée Chalamet also had a small role as McConaughey’s son as a teenager, with the character being played as an adult by Affleck.

Speaking about his part in the film at a recent screening of the film, Chalamet said: “Though my role is not enormous in Interstellar, I think I was number 12 on the call sheet, this film came to me at a time in life, in my career, where things were certainly not set yet. And it’s remained my favourite project I’ve ever been in. It’s the film I’ve seen the most of, of all the films ever made in human history.”

He also revealed in a separate interview that McConaughey left a “huge” poo in Chalamet’s trailer toilet during filming.

“I gotta say, my last day on Interstellar, I was sad to be leaving,” Chalamet said at the time. “In my trailer, I went to the bathroom and there was a huge turd in my toilet. I felt so disrespected. Like, ‘I know I’m not the star of this movie, but who’s coming in here?’

“So I went around to all the grips, these big guys, and I said, ‘Hey, one of you let it loose in my trailer.’ They said no. I went up to [director Christopher] Nolan, and he pointed to Matthew, and Matthew had this devilish grin on his face. I said: ‘Why’d you do that?’ You said: ‘In Texas, it’s a coming of age, baby.’

McConaughey replied: “Souvenir”.

Elsewhere, a performance of a piece from Hans Zimmer’s Interstellar score being played in Cologne Cathedral recently went viral on social media, with viewers saying it gave them “goosebumps”.
