EXCLUSIVE: Emilia Jones (Bad Bridgets, Task) is set to headline The Retrievals, the latest series from Emmy-nominated Maid and Sirens creator/executive producer Molly Smith Metzer.

Inspired by the Peabody Award-winning NYT podcast by Susan Burton, The Retrievals follows an unlikely community of IVF patients who come together to crusade against Yale University after they are operated on without anesthesia–because a nurse stole their fentanyl.

Jones will play Gabby Clemente, a New Haven bartender and student teacher whose life is upended by her traumatic egg retrieval surgery. Upon discovering that a nurse at the clinic was stealing vast amounts of fentanyl, Gabby seeks out other victims and leads a groundbreaking legal battle against Yale University.

Metzer is writer and showrunner. She executive produces via her Quiet Coyote banner alongside her Maid and Sirens collaborators Colin McKenna and LuckyChap. Serving as exec producers for LuckyChap are Dani Gorin, Tom Ackerley, and Margot Robbie. Additional executive producers include Caitlin Roper for The New York Times, and podcast write Burton.

Also reuniting with Metzer is Lila Neugebauer, who directed one episode each of Maid and Sirens. She will direct the pilot episode of The Retrievals and executive produce.

Jones, coming off a main role in HBO’s Task, is currently in the film Tony and will next be seen in The 99’ers.
