Grand Theft Auto 6 fans are getting an extended look at the highly-anticipated game later this month – but only if they’re subscribed to Netflix.

After two delays, Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to launch this November. However fans are getting impatient about the lack of gameplay footage with the last trailer for the game coming over a year ago.

There had been speculation that Trailer 3 would drop earlier this week ahead of last night’s (August 6) earnings call at publishers Take Two. However, Rockstar Games has now confirmed that fans will be able to get an “extended look” at Grand Theft Auto 6 on August 27. However the presentation will be exclusive to Netflix subscribers for the first six hours.

“Grand Theft Auto reveals have become cultural moments in their own right. The anticipation and fandom around Grand Theft Auto 6 is unprecedented, and we’re honored that Rockstar Games has partnered with us to debut the next part of the Grand Theft Auto story with Netflix members first,” says Netflix’s Brandon Riegg.  “It’s a reflection of what we hope Netflix is becoming: a place where the most ambitious storytelling, from any medium, can find the biggest possible audience.” 

The Grand Theft Auto 6: Extended Look will premiere on Netflix on August 27 at 8pm before being released more widely at 2am the following morning. 

Fans aren’t impressed that the update is being locked behind a paywall though. “6 hours later? Guess I’ll be watching some shit-ass quality re-upload on Discord,” one fan wrote on Reddit. “I am not ever going to pay a Netflix subscription just to watch the trailer,” said another. “I’m not paying Netflix to specifically watch an ad, you guys have lost your freakin’ minds,” added a third. 

“I know this community can be extreme sometimes but this has to be the weirdest marketing I’ve ever seen for a videogame. A trailer for a trailer? A Netflix exclusive first? WTF is going on,” asked one fan. “We should all have access to the trailer at the same time. This bullshit just helps Rockstar make an even bigger bag of money. God knows how much Netflix paid them for this. It literally benefits no one other than them and Netflix,” said another. 

Earlier this year, Rockstar Games confirmed it would be making several in-game features exclusive to the more expensive Ultimate version of Grand Theft Auto 6.

In other news, the soundtrack to Palworld has finally hit streaming services, more than 18 months after the hit game’s early access launch.
