Caleb Williams, the quarterback for the Chicago Bears, went down with an injury during his game on Sunday (September 20) versus the Minnesota Vikings.
The 24-year-old starter was running out of the pocket and went down suddenly with a non-contact injury. He could be heard screaming in audio from the game.
Caleb had to be helped off of the field before the cart came out to take him back to the locker room. It did not look like he was putting weight on the injured leg.
Caleb eventually acknowledged fans while being carted off.
What happened to Caleb Williams today?
NBC Sports reports that it’s actually a hamstring injury.
Many fans feared a dreaded ACL knee injury or Achilles tear.
Will Caleb Williams miss time?
It’s unclear how much time Caleb Williams might miss as he recovers. This would depend on the severity of the injury.
Former NFL team doctor, David J. Chao, analyzed the footage and said that IR is on the table. “IR” stands for Injured Reserve, and it can signify a more detrimental injury. If a player is on IR, they must miss at least 4 games, and could miss the entire season.
We’re wishing Caleb Williams well right now.
