“Sue Me” singer Audrey Hobert has constantly been compared to the character Sue Heck from The Middle and now she’s reacting to those comparisons.
For those who don’t know, Audrey‘s dad Tim Hobert was actually an executive producer on the series and wrote many of the episodes.
The Middle, following a lower middle class family living in Indiana, ran for nine seasons on ABC from 2009 to 2018. Eden Sher starred as middle child Sue, who was 13 when the series began.
During a fan Q&A at a recent concert, Audrey was asked if it’s true that she feels a connection with Sue Heck.
“Well, yeah, I mean my father wrote on the show. People think that I’m based on her, but I was really young. She’s older than me, so I was younger. But I think she’s a great character and yeah, this is a connection,” Audrey said (via TikTok).
Audrey‘s younger brother, Malcolm Todd, is also a musician. She grew up in the Los Angeles neighborhood Pacific Palisades and was childhood friends with Gracie Abrams. They co-wrote multiple songs for Gracie‘s album The Secret of Us, including “That’s So True.”
Audrey‘s popularity has been growing in 2026 and she had thousands of fans packing the field at her recent Lollapalooza performance, giving the festival one of its biggest crowds for a daytime set.
