Chadwick Boseman‘s brothers are requesting that his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, be removed as the administrator of his estate.
The late actor’s siblings, Kevin and Derrick Boseman, have reportedly filed a petition with a Los Angeles court to remove Taylor as administrator nearly six years after his death.
In the documents, the Boseman brothers claim that Taylor has mismanaged the estate, outlining a list of reasons why she should be removed from having control over their late brother’s estate and finances.
Why Kevin and Derrick want Taylor removed as administrator of Chadwick’s estate
Kevin and Derrick have claimed that Taylor has left their entire family in the dark about his estate following a 2022 court order placing her in charge of handling the financial matters of his estate as he did not have a will.
In 2022, it was said that Taylor would receive half of Chadwick‘s estate, while his parents would receive the other half, including “money from movie residuals and royalties, his image and intellectual property rights, investments, insurance policies, bank accounts, and personal belongings.”
The late actor’s brothers say that Taylor has yet to transfer a long-term care insurance policy to their mother, as well as properly distribute money from his various bank accounts, SAG-AFTRA residual payments earned after his passing, and collect and distribute unclaimed property belonging to Chadwick, per TMZ.
Kevin and Derrick claim that this has left their parents “without funds and insurance they are entitled to, prevented them from pursuing business opportunities involving Chadwick‘s legacy, caused emotional distress and allowed Taylor to continue to solely profit from Chadwick‘s name and image.”
The brothers say Taylor is fully aware of this, and they have made multiple pleas to her to get it sorted out.
What the Boseman brothers are requesting from the court
They are asking the court to hold her in contempt for failing to uphold the previous order and force her to distribute what is owed to their family within 30 days. In addition, they want her removed as administrator and have requested that attorney Jason Rubin take over.
Kevin and Derrick also want the court to ban Taylor from signing major contracts involving Chadwick‘s estate without their family’s approval, require her to hand over copies of all contracts related to the estate, and pay the family’s attorney’s fees and legal costs.
