Whitney Leavitt is waltzing to the beat of her fans’ proposed idea.
The Secret Life of Mormon Wives star shared her lighthearted reaction to rumors she and husband Conner Leavitt will star in their own spinoff of the Hulu series.
In her March 31 TikTok video, Whitney, 32, dramatically slipped off her coat while dancing to The Village People’s “In the Navy.” Conner also showed off his dance moves and clapped in the background. As Whitney fittingly captioned the clip, “How it feels knowing y’all want a Leavitt spin off.”
Though the couple—who share kids Sedona, 6, Liam, 4, and Billy, 17 months—are down to expand the show’s cinematic universe, their reaction may be surprising to some. After all, Whitney recently suggested she’s ready to walk away from Secret Life of Mormon Wives to docus on her first love: dancing.
“I’m figuring it out in real time,” she told The Hollywood Reporter March 16. “We’re figuring it out together, but it feels like that’s the trajectory of where it’s going. I wouldn’t be where I am without it, but it feels like it’s time to challenge myself in other ways and fulfill these dreams and passions that I’ve been trying to get even before the show.”
Indeed, Whitney has been finding her rhythm in both California and New York. She competed for the Mirrorball trophy on season 34 of Dancing with the Stars—which ultimately went to Robert Irwin and Witney Carson—in September and made her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in Chicago in early February.
And while she’s excited to pursue her artistic dreams, she never imagined that Broadway.
“I’ve always had a passion for Broadway, but I never felt like I had that Broadway voice,” she noted. “[I] felt like I had the acting, I felt like I had the dancing, but a voice is a huge role in that. While I was doing Dancing With the Stars, that opportunity to audition for the role came. I was like, 'Oh my God, I need to take voice lessons now.’”
While Whitney is keeping her eyes on the prize, she’s also aware of the alarming drama surrounding her Secret Life of Mormon Wives costar Taylor Frankie Paul. Shortly after a 2023 video from her domestic incident with ex Dakota Mortensen was released earlier this month, the show paused filming onnseason five. Taylor’s upcoming stint on The Bachelorette was also cancelled.
And as Secret Lives of Mormon Wives continues to sit in quiet limbo, Whitney shared her perspective on the ongoing scandal.
“I have a lot of emotions about it and I’m still processing everything that’s happening,” she explained to Interview magazine March 25, “but the safety of human beings, especially children, comes first. Always, period, the end. I don’t want that to be tolerated. I don’t want that to be overlooked. It’s just so fresh. That’s all I have to say about that.”
