Robin Roberts and Diane Sawyer are saying good morning to a heartwarming reunion.
The Good Morning America host reunited with her former co-anchor on the set of the iconic morning show, sharing a sweet photo from their sit-down together.
“Longtime @goodmorningamerica fabu camera operator ‘Nuge’ took this candid photo and sent it to me with caption: ‘Just like old times….’” Roberts posted to Instagram Oct. 6. “I treasure these special moments with the incomparable @dianesawyer.”
“Such wisdom, such grace,” the 65-year-old added, “such a dear beautiful friend.”
In the photo, Roberts and Sawyer, 80, were engrossed in conversation on the famed GMA couch. Sawyer appeared on the episode to discuss her interview with Michael Douglas about his new memoir, One Helluva Ride.
And what a ride Roberts and Sawyer had, with Roberts joining GMA in 2002 and working alongside Sawyer, who was with the program from 1999 until 2009, when she went on to host ABC World News.
When it came time to say goodbye to the television icon during her final regular program, Roberts took a moment to share what an effect Sawyer had on her life.
“I’ve had the privilege of working with you seven of the 10 years that you’ve been on this program and such an impact this woman has had on my life, personally and professionally,” Roberts said during the 2009 episode. “Your body of work—you have made such a difference, not just in our lives but in the lives of people all around the world and here at home.”
And Sawyer was equally effusive about Roberts, telling Glamour in 2014, “She looks straight at the truth. The saying that courage is fear that has said its prayers: That to me is where she lives."
The ABC News anchor was also extremely grateful to have experienced Roberts’ cheerful personality first-hand.
"Wherever Robin goes there's more life in the room, more joy,” she added. “There's more of a sense that together we can move the horizon."
