The superstar’s BeyGood Foundation announced the news via a social media post, revealing that it had sent $200,000 in aid to City Life Center and Angel by Nature. The two organizations are “on the ground aiding communities most affected following the record flooding caused by a derecho storm that destroyed infrastructure, leaving more than 1000 people unhoused,” according to the post.

“The fund will immediately support critical relief and recovery efforts in the neediest areas, including the city of Gary,” it continued, “providing food, household supplies, and other essential resources to individuals and families impacted by the flooding.”

The post also encouraged followers to donate online through BeyGood’s website if interested in helping the cause.

Bey’s good deed comes less than a week after the Donald Trump administration declared the situation in Indiana a major disaster on Aug. 25. Two weeks before that, a derecho — which is classified by the National Weather Service as a “widespread, long-lived wind storm that is associated with a band of rapidly moving showers or thunderstorms” — had torn through northwest and north-central Indiana in a combination of high winds, tornadoes, hail and flash floods.

The result was large power outages, damage to properties and evacuations around the state, according to Indiana’s Department of Homeland Security.

The Destiny’s Child alum — who hasn’t dropped an album since 2024’s two-week Billboard 200-topper Cowboy Carter — has been on a philanthropic streak lately. In late August, Parkwood Entertainment shared that she’d donated $1 million to disaster relief in Colombia, where a magnitude-7.4 earthquake recently caused widespread damage and food insecurity.
