EXCLUSIVE: The MPTF needed someone to perform at its pre-Emmys fundraising event but not anymore.
The Pitt composers Andrew Bird and Gavin Brivik will play their Emmy-nominated song “Need Someone” at the Motion Picture & Television Fund’s 20th annual Evening Before benefit on September 13, the night before the 78th annual Emmy Awards.
The duo penned the emotional number for the Season 2 of HBO Max’s hit hospital drama and picked up one of the show’s leading 25 Emmy nominations, for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics.
“Andrew and I feel incredibly lucky to have been given the opportunity to write a song for what we both consider the most important TV show right now,” Brivik said. “We never expected the song to resonate so deeply with fans, and we’re incredibly grateful to work with the legends behind the show: John [Wells], Scott [Gemmill], Noah [Wyle], Michael [Hissrich], Joe [Sachs] and Terri [Murphy]. It’s such an honor for us to be invited to perform our song at this event, and we’re so excited to finally perform it in front of the cast.”

The Motion Picture & Television Fund supports working and retired members of the entertainment community with a safety net of health and social services including temporary financial assistance, case management and residential living. Funds raised at the annual benefit will help MPTF continue to provide essential support to working and retired entertainment industry members across every craft.
