Travis Barker is opening up about hospitalization.
On Tuesday (October 6), the 50-year-old blink-182 drummer shared some selfies wearing a surgical cap and gown while lying in a hospital bed. At the time, he did not reveal why he was in the hospital.
The following day, Travis took to his Instagram Story to reveal that he had surgery to fix a nerve after dealing with numbness for a month.
“I had surgery yesterday. My arm, hand and fingers have been numb since a show I played last month,” he revealed. “I did a nerve test Monday after my show and turns out I needed a cubital tunnel release to fix the nerve.”
Cubital tunnel release is “a surgical procedure used to treat cubital tunnel syndrome (also known as ulnar nerve entrapment at the elbow),” according to Ortho Info. “Patients with cubital tunnel syndrome have a pinched nerve at their elbow (ulnar nerve) and typically complain of numbness in the small finger and sometimes the ring finger. In severe cases, patients also have weakness in the muscles of the hand resulting in poor hand function.”
I wanted to get ahead of it and get it over with so that I can keep playing the way I play for a long long time,” Travis added. “Should be good in a few weeks.”
Along with his message, Travis shared a selfie from his hospital bed, snapped by his wife Kourtney Kardashian, who has a smirk on her face.”
“Not sure why my wife looks so happy about this,” Travis jokingly ended his message.
Back in 2023, Travis spoke about dealing with serious health challenges.
