Backrooms, the summer hit which some saw coming, but was bigger than anticipated with an enormous $396.5M global gross, will be streaming on HBO Max on Friday, Sept. 25.
The Kane Parsons directed pic based on the internet lore IP will have its linear debut on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 8PM E.T. The movie stars stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Renate Reinsve, Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett, and Lukita Maxwell.
The pic follows a furniture store owner (Ejiofor) who gets lost in a freaky world adjacent to his store, filled with an endless network of interconnected rooms where time bends and the only thing scarier than getting lost is the sense that something is lying in wait. His therapist wades in to rescue him (Reinsve).
Kane Parsons directed off a script by Will Soodik based on the former’s series. Chernin Entertainment co-financed the pic which was also co-produced by Blumhouse Atomic Monster, 21 Laps and Phobos.
