EXCLUSIVE: Here is your first full trailer for Jonathan Majors‘ comeback movie, Run Hide Fight: Infidels, a sequel of sorts to The Daily Wire‘s 2020 movie Run Hide Fight.
The film sparked a level of controversy online five weeks ago when its provocative logline was revealed as follows:
“When radical Islamic terrorists hijack a liberal college’s pro-Palestine encampment to enforce barbaric Sharia law on students and execute infidels in a makeshift caliphate, a ragtag band of red-blooded students, a security guard tired of ‘Uncle Tom’ smears, and a Delta Force vet must arm up to save their clueless peers and keep America from surrendering to the enemy on its own soil.”
As we first revealed in February of this year, the film is in the vein of ’80s and ’90s action movies Red Dawn and Toy Soldiers, which were both about groups of teenage boys who had to band together to defeat invading enemies. Run Hide Fight filmmaker Kyle Rankin returns as writer-director. Release date on the Daily Wire platform is newly scheduled for September 18th.
This one, true to Daily Wire’s politics, seemingly comes with a particularly blunt political message. It’s a message that has stirred up a level of censure online with one critic in the LA Times labelling the premise and teaser “xenophobic and Islamophobic” and “rehashing 40-year-old tropes while invoking conspiracy theories of Muslims bringing sharia law to America, because outrage is cheap to produce and easy to monetize”.
Controversy hasn’t been far from the project since we revealed it. Not only does it mark the comeback for Majors, who has been shunned by major studios since a domestic violence case, but the production itself also saw a labor strike and safety concerns following an on-set accident where Majors and co-star JC Kilcoyne fell through an unsecured window.
Ben Shapiro (The Ben Shapiro Show) and Dallas Sonnier (Bone Tomahawk) are producing for The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend, respectively. Travis Mills (Frontier Crucible), Lillian Campbell (The Pendragon Cycle), and Sydney Aucreman (Terror On The Prairie) are also producing.
Majors’ career was motoring following roles in movies such as The Last Black Man in San Francisco, Creed III, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Magazine Dreams, as well as series such as HBO horror Lovecraft Country, but he was dropped from numerous projects when found guilty in 2023 of assaulting his former girlfriend. The actor has been rebuilding since then and is also attached to star in the supernatural revenge thriller Merciless from Martin Villeneuve, which we first announced in summer 2024.
