EXCLUSIVE: Emmy and BAFTA-nominated film and television director Bharat Nalluri has signed with Rain for management.
A highly sought-after director for television, Nalluri has directed 14 pilots and first episodes for major international productions. He first gained international recognition directing the pilot episode of the critically acclaimed Spooks (MI-5), one of the BBCâs most successful modern dramas, which also helped launch the television career of then-not-well-known Matthew Macfadyen. Since then, Nalluri has launched numerous acclaimed series, including Shantaram for Apple TV, as well as Life on Mars, Hustle, Torchwood, The 100, and the critically acclaimed anthology series Little America. He also directed HBOâs Tsunami: The Aftermath, earning a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Directing.
Most recently, Nalluri directed the Australian drama Boy Swallows Universe for Netflix, which won a record 12 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards, including Best Miniseries and Best Direction. He is currently directing Flavia: Girl Detective, the anticipated feature adaptation of Alan Bradleyâs bestselling mystery novels, distributed in the U.S. by Magenta Light.
In feature films, Nalluri directed the critically praised Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, starring Frances McDormand and Amy Adams. He also directed The Man Who Invented Christmas, starring Dan Stevens and Christopher Plummer, a retelling of Charles Dickensâ creation of A Christmas Carol.
Nalluri continues to be repped by WME, Independent Talent Group, and RGM Artists.
