The streamer has acquired the rights to Legend, which will be recorded during Gervais’ new global stand-up tour, embarking in the UK from September.

Netflix has streamed four of Gervais’ previous stand-up specials, including Humanity, Supernature, Armageddon, and Mortality.

“This is my most personal show so far and because both cancel culture, and most people I knew growing up, are dead, I can really say what the f**k I want now,” Gervais said.

“I’m not saying how much they’re paying me this time, but I can say it’s my favourite deal so far.”

Netflix and Gervais have long partnered, with the comedian’s next project, the animated series Alley Cats, set to premiere on August 7. Gervais will attend the Annecy International Film Festival next week to give a masterclass on the show.
