EXCLUSIVE: Italian Tunisian actress Maya Talem has signed with MAD Celebrity, the talent arm of Cairo-based film company MAD Solutions.
Talem will be looked after by MAD Rising Celebrity, MAD Celebrity’s talent initiative dedicated to emerging standout acting talent from the Arab world and supporting their growth within the wider filmmaking industry.
Born in Tunisia and raised in Italy, Talem’s life and acting career has straddled Europe and the Middle East.
She will next be seen in Bobby Moresco’s upcoming Andrea Iervolino-produced picture Maserati: The Brothers about the family behind one of Italy’s most renowned luxury car brands.
Appearing alongside Anthony Hopkins, Al Pacino, Jessica Alba and Andy Garcia Talem, Talem plays Rosa Maserati, the wife of Ettore Maserati.
The film showcases Talem as a singer. She performs a song in Italian and English within the film and joins Andrea Bocelli and Jennifer Hudson on its official title song, written by Oscar-nominated songwriter Diane Warren. Talem performs her part in Arabic, with Bocelli singing in Italian and Hudson in English.
Fluent in Italian, English, Arabic and French, Talem began her professional career in Italian television in with Thou Shalt Not Kill (Non Uccidere) in 2015, before appearing in productions including One Step From Heaven (Un Passo dal Cielo), Il Bello delle Donne, Che Dio Ci Aiuti and L’Alligatore, as well as Italian feature films Tutto Molto Bello and Il Gatto e la Luna.
Her Middle East credits include Egyptian action film Pharaoh’s War, opposite Mike Tyson, Amr Saad and Ruby, followed by appearances in productions including Cairo: Kabul, Al Jasous and Al Aaedoun: The Returns.
Talem’s role as Faten alongside Mai Omar in 2025 Egyptian Ramadan series Ish Ish brought her wide recognition across the MENA region.
Among her international film credits is The Goat, directed by Ilaria Borrelli and starring Mira Sorvino, John Savage, Amr Saad, Nelly Karim and Fathy Abdel Wahab.
Talem played Rabab Saube, the mother of the young protagonist, in the drama addressing violence against women, female dignity and women’s rights. Her performance received recognition at the Rome Film Fest, and she has also been honored with the Nations Award in Taormina and the Artis Suavitas Civitas Award.
