Six months after the pair finalized their divorce after 20 years of marriage, Kidman shared a shoutout to her ex—with whom she shares daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15—on Father’s Day.
“Happy Father’s Day,” she wrote on a June 21 Instagram Story, “to all the fathers.”
Accompanying the message was a throwback photo of Kidman as a child alongside her dad Antony Kidman, as well as a black and white snap of her ex from earlier in their relationship. In the photo, Urban carries much-younger versions of Sunday and Faith on his back.
The message from Kidman—who is also mom to kids Bella Cruise, 33, and Connor Cruise, 31, with ex-husband Tom Cruise—comes on the heels of her 59th birthday, during which Urban gave his ex-wife his own shoutout.
On a June 20 Instagram Story, Urban wrote over a colorful background, “happy birthday Nicole mary!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
While the “Blue Ain’t Your Color” artist has stayed effectively mum on his and Kidman’s split since she filed for divorce in September, his friend Russell Dickinson has shared insight into Urban’s new chapter.
“He’s always been focused on music, and so I think he’s just kind of doubling down on that, and it’s just beautiful,” Dickerson told Page Six at the March 26 iHeartRadio Music Awards. “I can’t wait to hear what comes out of it.”
He added that Urban seemed to be “in good spirits.”
As for Kidman, the Moulin Rouge actress told Variety in an interview published in March that she was doing well because she is “always going to be moving toward what’s good.”
In fact, the Oscar winner is looking forward to her next chapter as a single woman.
“I rally against limitations,” she explained. “And I’m like that in my personal life. This year and my next few years are for the adventures.”
“I’m at a certain time in my life,” she added. “I’m going to do the things I’ve always dreamt of doing that are not anything to do with work. Just to do with exploration.”
And though Kidman noted she wouldn’t speak to certain details “out of respect,” it shouldn’t come as a surprise that she sent Urban some love on Father’s Day. After all, she previously emphasized keeping things cordial for her daughters was her no. 1 priority.
“I’m staying in a place of, ‘We are a family,’ and that’s what we’ll continue to be,” she explained. “My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women.”
