EXCLUSIVE: WME has signed Evan Muir, the filmmaker, writer, director and digital creator known online as Evan Royalty, with an eye toward helping him expand his footprint across film, television, and beyond, while developing original IP and franchise opportunities.
Royalty is known as one of the defining filmmakers behind YouTube’s SCP phenomenon, a series of sci-fi horro shorts revolving around the online lore of the SCP Foundation, a secret organization covertly operating to protect humanity from malevolent entities. Like Kane Parsons’ Backrooms, this universe emerged from a creepypasta, or short, user-generated horror story/urban legend, posted to the 4chan internet forum.
The signing comes amid a scramble in Hollywood for creator-driven horror IP, and an excitement around the SCP Foundation in particular, following the recent announcement that Roy Lee and Steven Schneider will produce a new V/H/S anthology film set within the SCP universe.
