Joy Behar missed her birthday episode of ABC’s The View today as she continues to recuperate from the shoulder injury that kept her off the show last week.
View moderator Whoopi Goldberg addressed Behar’s absence at the start of today’s show. “Despite sharing a birthday with Vladimir Putin, she does not have the Russian plague,” Goldberg said about Behar, who turns 84 today. “She’s still healing up after dislocating her shoulder. What we’re saying is: Get better fast so we can celebrate you back here on The View.”
Behar’s injury was disclosed last week when panelist Sunny Hostin explained Behar’s absence on Thursday’s live episode. “Our dear friend Joy dislocated her shoulder,” said Hostin, who filled in as moderator Thursday since both Behar and Goldberg, who was out while filming the Netflix movie Women Like Us, were absent.
Behar, who dislocated the shoulder after catching her heel and tripping last week at The View‘s ABC studio building in New York, is expected to return to the show next week.
Today’s episode of The View was hosted by Goldberg, Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin and Ana Navarro.
Earlier today, The View posted a birthday greeting to Behar on the show’s Instagram page:
Behar previously missed several View episodes in 2025 after breaking a toe. She explained to the audience at the time that she had dropped an iPad on her foot. “I do not recommend you dropping anything on your toes,” she joked.
