“The Bold and the Beautiful” creative chief Bradley Bell is getting into the microseries biz. Bell has partnered with microseries studio/platform aTwist to launch “Hollywood Starlet” this summer.
The series will star microdrama vets Bella Mraz (“Faceless”), Molly Anderson (“We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”) and Eric Guilmette (“You Belong With Me,” “Tails of Christmas”), who also co-produces.
Bell plans to produce “Hollywood Starlet” in Los Angeles at Sunset Las Palmas Studios across multiple stages.
Bell, who has won multiple Emmys as head writer and executive producer of “The Bold and the Beautiful” (having led the CBS soap for more than three decades) is the creator of “Hollywood Starlet,” which is directed and written by Kristen Brancaccio. Also on board are executive producers Anthony Ferrari, Oliver Bell, Paxton Fuller and Graham Lawyer.
Bradley Bell and his son Oliver Bell are producing through their Red Flair Entertainment, which focuses on microseries.
“Brad Bell is one of the most influential creative forces in daytime television, and bringing him into the aTwist universe is a major moment for us,” said aTwist chief creative officer Susan Rovner in a statement. “‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ has defined storytelling for decades, and we’re thrilled to collaborate with him as he brings that legacy into a new format with ‘Hollywood Starlet.’ We think fans are going to love seeing this world evolve in such a fun, fresh way.”
Formerly known as MicroCo, aTwist was founded by chief executive officer Jana Winograde, Rovner and executive chairman Lloyd Braun.
The deal with Bell and Red Flair reps the latest for aTwist, which has been building a library of vertical videos in various genres including comedy, drama, unscripted, horror and romance. Other recent partnerships include one with BET to develop and distribute microseries across linear and vertical platforms. aTwist says it has more than 20 series in production across scripted, unscripted and animation formats.
