Original ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Stars Reunite at the Emmys to Honor the Late Farrah Fawcett: ‘The Shiniest Angel of Them All’

Celebrating 50 years, “Charlie’s Angels” stars Kate Jackson, Cheryl Ladd and Jaclyn Smith reunited for one more mission as presenters at the 78th Emmy Awards on Monday night.

The trio walked out to a standing ovation. Before presenting the best drama Emmy to “The Pitt,” Smith honored Farrah Fawcett. “As I said many times, she’s here and she’s here with us in everyone’s collective memory.”

Jackson said Fawcett “was the shiniest angel of all, and she was loved by millions of people all over the world. And she still is today. And they’ll never forget her and neither will we. And I’m sure you won’t either.”

Ladd added, “Her iconic poster lives in the minds and the garages of many a man.”

The ABC adventure-crime drama series, created by Ivan Goff and Ben Roberts, ran for five seasons from 1976 to 1981. Jackson starred as Sabrina Duncan, Ladd was Kristine “Kris” Munroe and Smith played Kelly Garrett on the series. “A wealthy mystery man named Charlie runs a detective agency via a speakerphone and his personal assistant,” read the show’s logline. “His detectives are three beautiful women who end up in a variety of difficult situations.”

During its run, “Charlie’s Angels” received four Emmy nominations for outstanding achievement in film sound editing for a series in 1977, Jackson as lead actress in a drama series in 1977 and 1978 and  David Doyle for supporting actor in a drama series in 1977. 

Before returning to the Emmys, the trio got together earlier this year to celebrate the show’s landmark anniversary at a PaleyFest panel in Hollywood where they reminisced on their time on screen together. Jackson shared the story of how “Charlie’s Angels” came to be: She was starring on a show called “The Rookies” and as it was winding down, executive producer Leonard Goldberg brought her a project titled “Alley Cats,” about three women who were private investigators but also wore whips and chains.

“Len said, ‘It’s available because all three networks have already passed it over,’” Jackson recalled. “That sounds like a real winner! He tells me the story of ‘Alley Cats,’ and I’m thinking that’s the worst idea I ever heard in my life.” 

The 2026 Emmy Awards are presented by Mariska Hargitay, who took home two awards last weekend for her documentary “My Mom Jayne: A Film by Mariska Hargitay.”
