Noah Kahan is officially entering the world of The Hunger Games!

The 29-year-old singer-songwriter has been confirmed as the artist behind “Draw You Out,” the lead single from the upcoming The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping soundtrack.

The song will officially be released on October 2, but Noah has already shared a portion of the lyrics with fans, and now he’s revealing the heartbreaking inspiration behind the track.

What Is Noah Kahan’s “Draw You Out” About?

According to a press release from MCA, Noah wrote “Draw You Out” specifically for and inspired by The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.

He reunited with Grammy-winning producer Aaron Dessner, who co-wrote and co-produced the track with him.

Following the song’s announcement, Noah confirmed that Haymitch Abernathy and Lenore Dove Baird were the inspiration behind the song.

“This is something I’ve always wanted to do and I am so grateful for the opportunity to write for this moving film, having adored the works of art by Suzanne Collins,” he wrote on social media.

Noah explained that he was “totally connected and inspired by the tragic yet hopeful story of Haymitch and Lenore Dove,” adding that he wrote about the “purpose, grief and perseverance through pain that they exemplify.”

The lyrics that Noah has already teased make even more sense with that context.

The song finds him singing about carrying someone’s memory with him, returning to places associated with that person and finding comfort in continuing to say their name.

How Do the Lyrics Connect to Haymitch & Lenore Dove?

Warning: Some spoilers for Sunrise on the Reaping are ahead!

In Suzanne Collins‘ novel, Lenore Dove is Haymitch’s girlfriend in District 12 when he is selected to compete in the 50th Hunger Games.

Without getting too deep into the book’s ending, loss and remembrance become central parts of Haymitch’s story.

Knowing that Noah specifically drew inspiration from Haymitch and Lenore makes the song’s themes of carrying someone with you and continuing to speak their name particularly poignant.

Noah Kahan Previously Teased the Song

Fans actually had reason to suspect Noah was involved in the soundtrack before Thursday’s (September 24) official announcement.

He previously shared lyrics from the then-unannounced song on social media, including the phrase “I draw you out,” which later appeared as a title on the soundtrack’s initially artist-free tracklist.

He also teased a snippet of the track on social media before his involvement was confirmed. In another major clue, Noah captioned one of his teasers “Ladybug, fly away home,” a phrase that appears in Sunrise on the Reaping.

At the 2026 Emmy Awards, Noah hinted that he’d recently gotten the opportunity to work on music for a movie, but joked that he couldn’t reveal what it was without getting in trouble with his publicist.

Now we officially know what he was talking about!

“Draw You Out” will be released on October 2.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping (The Album) follows on November 13, one week before the movie arrives in theaters on November 20. The 29-track soundtrack features previously unreleased music created specifically for the project.

The movie stars Joseph Zada as Haymitch, with Mckenna Grace playing Maysilee Donner and Ralph Fiennes portraying President Snow.
