A former NBA player named Enes Kanter Freedom was ejected from a WNBA game last night.
The 34-year-old was on the sidelines at the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky game on Sunday (August 23) when he got into a verbal altercation with Sky player Natasha Cloud at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois.
He was seen wearing a shirt that read, “WOMAN noun. adult human female.”
During a timeout in the game, Natasha could be seen engaging with him. He ended up approaching, and security intervened.
Before leaving, he could apparently be heard telling police, “This is unacceptable.”
He took to social later, writing, “I just got kicked out of a @WNBA game for supporting WOMEN! Let that sink in, AMERICA!”
If you don’t recall, he recently declared for the WNBA draft amid the debate about trans athletes in sports.
If you don’t recall, Sophie Cunningham, a WNBA player on the Indiana Fever, recently made headlines for her views that women “shouldn’t have to go against biological men” in sports.
After the game, the Sky’s coach spoke out as well.
“There’s so much good things about this league and so many good things about the play of these players. And if you come to a game, you should probably come to enjoy the basketball. That seems pretty simple to me. I think these players deserve that and have earned that,” Tyler Marsh, the Sky coach, said about this. “Being a former basketball player, you should probably understand and feel that, too.”
