EXCLUSIVE: Post house Digital Sword has hired former Tubi production exec Ashla Soter.
A month after exiting the streamer, she’s been named Executive Producer and SVP of Production at Digital Sword, where she will assume oversight of production across the company’s full slate, working with studios, brands, and agencies alongside Digital Sword’s global editorial, color, VFX, and finishing teams. Soter will also continue to produce select projects independently.
At Tubi, she was the first production hire for the streamer’s originals push and spent three years there. She was in charge of original conten production and oversaw more than 150 scripted and unscripted titles, including Sidelined: The QB and Me, which was a big seven-day ratings hit and grew into a three film franchise.
Besides being a production exec, Soter is an independent producer and over the past decade has worked on the likes of feature doc The Chainsaw Artist.
“We needed someone who could run a full slate and hold the standard on every job,” said Cal Laird and Joan Pabon, founders of Digital Sword, in a statement. “Ashla has done exactly that, at the highest level.”
“This team cares about making great work more than anything else, and it shows in everything they touch,” added Soter.
Founded by Laird and Pabon, Digital Sword represents editors and artists and works across film, television, advertising and music. The company frames itself as a global creative talent and post-production studio focuses on editorial, color, VFX and finishing for brands, agencies, studios, networks, and artists.
