America’s Block Party, celebrating the nation’s 250th birthday on July 4th, will include a benefit concert in Los Angeles hosted by Queen Latifah with performances from Chris Stapleton, The Smashing Pumpkins, and more.
America’s Block Party, the celebration event for the nation’s 250th birthday this Fourth of July, will include a benefit concert in Los Angeles and events in communities across the country. Hosted by Queen Latifah, the concert at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on the Fourth will feature Chris Stapleton, The Smashing Pumpkins, and additional stars yet to be announced.
Tickets are on sale now for $17.76, with proceeds benefitting Feeding America. Free tickets will be donated to 5,000 first responders, veterans, and active-duty service members.
The event will also promote “Giving 4th,” a new initiative aiming to transform Independence Day into the largest single day of charitable giving in United States history.
“Los Angeles knows how to put on a show, and hosting America’s Block Party at the LA Coliseum is going to be something special,” said Queen Latifah. “This is a chance to celebrate a once-in-a-generation milestone with great music, real energy, and a purpose that reaches far beyond the stadium.”
“Playing the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on July 4 for America’s 250th is a rare kind of moment,” said The Smashing Pumpkins drummer, Jimmy Chamberlin. “We’ve always believed in the power of music to be a unifying principle. It brings people together and allows them to express themselves in a forum that has a common destination—and it allows all of us the opportunity to participate in a celebration that has meaning, history, and impact.”
Notably, America’s Block Party is being arranged by America250, a nonpartisan, apolitical organization created by Congress a decade ago to arrange and oversee events commemorating the country’s 250th birthday. Not to be confused with Trump’s Freedom250, which arranged the UFC fight at the White House, America250 is led by appointees from both sides of the aisle, and will be holding celebration events across the country, including in New York City, Philadelphia, and California.
“As we celebrate our 250th anniversary, we have an opportunity to bring Americans together around the values that continue to unite us,” said Rosie Rios, Chair of America250. “Giving back represents the best part of the American spirit, and through Giving 4th, we’re aiming to establish a new, nationwide season of giving, anchored around July 4th.”
A pre-event Block Party Village with music and giveaways, as well as free food and drink, will be open to ticket holders starting at 3 PM PDT, with the live concert beginning at 6 PM PDT. The show will culminate in a firework and drone spectacular.
