No, Teyana Taylor is not heading back to school—but the Oscar nominee proved her and ex Iman Shumpert’s daughters Junie, 10, and Rue, 5, are her spitting images in their adorable back-to-school photos.

In heartwarming pictures shared to the NBA alum’s Instagram Aug. 13, the kids struck one pose after another for their “first day” in their back-to-school outfits and backpacks. In one snap taken outside of the school, Teyana—putting the trio’s resemblance on full display—squatted next to Junie and Rue, looking just like their grown-up doppelgänger.

In the comments section, the Coming 2 America actress shared her love by dropping a double heart emoji. 

Of course, Teyana wouldn’t miss her daughters’ first day of school for the world, as she’s been vocal about how important they are to her.

Indeed, while accepting the inaugural Icon of the Year award at the 2026 BET Awards in June, she gave Junie and Rue a special shoutout. 

“If one day people remember me as an icon,” the 35-year-old said from stage, “I pray the two of you always remember me simply as home. Mommy loves you so, so much.”

Beyond their emotional support, Teyana has emphasized that her daughters are very honest with her, even revealing that all’s fair when it comes to her kids’ opinions about her fashion. 

“I mean, these are my two biggest fashion critics,” she quipped to E! News at the American Music Awards in May. “They keep me in check. They keep the outfits tea, as they would say. You know, I'm really excited to always make them proud. I love when they love my outfits."

But Rue has shown that loving her mom—and her outfits—isn’t especially difficult.

“I wanted to say," the 5-year-old told E! News at the Actor Awards in March as she stood alongside Taylor, "this is such an honor for me being here, and I wanted to thank you guys for my mom and this wonderful day, and all of y'all outfits look very good."
