Dolly Parton‘s decades-long allyship to the LGBTQ+ community is being honored following the devastating news of her passing at the age of 80.
The “Jolene” country music icon and philanthropist was an early advocate for the queer community, and non-profit GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) just issued a statement Tuesday (August 25) about her various contributions and support over the years.

“Dolly Parton was not only the ‘Queen of Country Music’, but indeed the queen of inclusivity and philanthropy,” GLAAD’s President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis, began.
