Denis Villeneuve‘s Dune: Part Three will arrive in theaters in just four months and tickets have gone on sale ahead of the film’s December 18 release date.
Screenings are available in multiple formats, but one of the most anticipated is easily IMAX 70mm, especially after the fanfare surrounding The Odyssey‘s release.
Dune: Part Three has a runtime of 2 hours and 20 minutes, with select theaters starting “Insider Screenings” as early as December 14 and 15. However, multiple outlets have reported theaters selling out or lengthy queue times to obtain them.
There are still tickets available in other formats like IMAX, 70mm, Dolby, Premium Large Format, and IMAX 70mm.

How can you find the nearest available showing?
The best way to start looking for the nearest available showing is to check the movie’s official showtime finder. Enter a ZIP code or location, select IMAX 70mm as the format and then follow the listing to the theater’s ticketing page.
If the closest primetime showing is sold out, check the venue directly for early-morning, late-night, and weekday screenings. Some high-demand locations have added unusual showtimes, and additional seats can appear when orders are canceled.
Since the release date is still a few months away, more tickets are likely to become available over time.

How long is Dune: Part Three?
Dune: Part Three is reportedly 140 minutes long, or 2 hours and 20 minutes. This number is not fully confirmed yet, but if it is true, then it will be the shortest movie in the Dune trilogy.
The listed runtime does not include trailers or theater advertisements. Because special-format engagements sometimes run fewer trailers, the actual end time can vary.
What is the difference between IMAX 70mm, Digital IMAX, and Regular 70mm?
One of the biggest things to note is that IMAX 70mm and conventional 70mm are not the same presentation.
IMAX 70mm film uses a 15-perforation frame that runs horizontally through the projector. At compatible theaters Dune: Part Three will be presented in IMAX’s expanded 1.43:1 aspect ratio, allowing the image to fill more of the screen.
Standard 70mm film, sometimes identified as 5/70, runs vertically through the projector and generally presents the movie at a wider 2.20:1 ratio. It remains a true film presentation, but it does not provide the full IMAX 70mm image.
Digital IMAX uses digital projection rather than a physical film print. Some dual-laser IMAX locations can display the expanded 1.43:1 image, while many other digital IMAX screens use a 1.90:1 ratio.
What else to be aware of before seeing Dune: Part Three
Dune: Part Three has not yet been rated by the MPAA, but the previous two films were rated PG-13. The film stars Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, with an ensemble cast that includes Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Isaach de Bankolé, Charlotte Rampling, Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert Pattinson, and Javier Bardem.
The story follows Paul Atreides as he now rules as a powerful Emperor and dealing with the fallout from his choices across the past two films.
Dune: Part Three opens in theaters everywhere on December 18, 2026.
