EXCLUSIVE: Superights, the international sales arm of French studio Superprod, has unveiled new deals on animation reboots Miffy and Friends and Underdog.
Revisiting the classic 1950s franchise of the same name, Underdog has been acquired for China (Reese Entertainment, Switzerland (RTS), French-speaking Canada (Télé-Québec), Belgium (RTBF) and Hong Kong (ViuTV).
The 13-episode show is co-produced by Superprod Animation and Red Monk Studio and distributed by Superights in collaboration with DeAPlaneta Entertainment. It was commissioned by M6 and Gulli in France and RAI in Italy.
Superights has also confirmed a host of new deals for Miffy and Friends to China (JY Entertainment), Sweden (SVT), Télé-Québec for French-speaking Canada (Télé-Quebec), English-speaking Canada (Knowledge Network) Hong Kong (View TV and Now TV, and Australia (ABC Australia).
Inspired by the loveable namesake bunny rabbit created by Dutch illustrator Dick Bruna, the show was previously announced as having been sold to Sky for the UK.
Co-produced by Superprod Animation, StudioCanal and Mercis, the show is distributed internationally by Superights and StudioCanal, with the latter’s pay-TV parent Canal+ taking France.
Superights is currently gearing up for the Annecy International Film Festival’s MIFA market, where its slate features the upcoming shows Wild Cat and Dungeons & Kittens.
Co-produced by Watch Next Media and Peekaboo, action-comedy adventure Wild Cat follows teenagers Idris and Dimitri as they discover their new friend Kat is an extraordinary cat-girl Tracker sent to protect Paloma City from powerful Werelings. Gulli (France), Super RTL (Germany) and 3CAT (Spain) are already on board as broadcasters.
Produced by Watch Next Media and Mélusine, epic fantasy adventure Dungeons & Kittens follows young kittens Precious and Fib, who are wrongly banished from the Kingdom of Cats.
Superights will have a first episode available at MIFA. France Televisions (France), RTS (Switzerland), BBC/CBBC (UK), VRT (Belgium), DR (Danemark), RTL (Luxembourg), BNT (Bulgaria) are already on board.
