TikTok and iHeartRadio set a new viewing record for the biggest TikTok Live on July 2, with over 2.16 million unique viewers tuning in for Madonna.
Madonna’s iHeartRadio and TikTok Live received over 5.75 million likes and 139,000 comments, setting a record for the biggest TikTok Live artist event to date with over 2.16 million unique viewers tuning in.
TikTok gathered Madonna fans worldwide in celebration of the release of her new album. Confessions II, through a multi-part global campaign spanning exclusive TikTok Live programming, immersive fan experiences, and interactive in-app features. Now, TikTok has announced that iHeartRadio and TikTok Live Premiere with Madonna was the biggest standalone artist broadcast ever on TikTok Live on July 2, with more than 2.1 million viewers worldwide.
Throughout the broadcast, fans actively participated by commenting, voting in polls, sharing confessions, and engaging with custom Live features, creating one of the platform’s biggest music moments to date and generating over 5.75 million likes and over 139,000 comments.
It was an exclusive hour-long broadcast, hosted by Bob the Drag Queen, giving fans a front-row seat to a candid conversation with Madonna, producer Stuart Price, and the artist’s daughter Lourdes “Lola” Leon, who collaborates with her on “The Test.” The event turned TikTok into a global celebration for millions of viewers worldwide, which was equal parts listening party, fan Q&A, club night, and confession booth.
Fans were invited to listen, react, vote, comment, confess, and celebrate in real time, making the broadcast a fully interactive moment for Madonna’s worldwide community. Additionally, fans could visit iHeartRadio’s digital station Hit Nation and use the talkback feature to share their confessions with Madonna. The event was also broadcast on more than 200 iHeartRadio stations worldwide.
The artist spoke about turning grief into art after the loss of her brother and stepmother while making Confessions II. She spoke candidly about grief while emphasizing celebration, resilience, and continuing to move forward. Madonna connected the album’s themes to urgency, self-expression, and refusing to suppress desire.
“The time between desire and expressing it is getting shorter and shorter. Just blurt it out now. I don’t waste time because time is precious,” said Madonna during the broadcast.
She pushed back against pressure to chase trends and algorithms while making “Bring Your Love” with Sabrina Carpenter, and said she does not want to think about the streaming numbers while writing. “I need to tell the story.”
The artist and her daughter Lola reflected on writing and recording “The Test” together. Madonna also reflected on reuniting with Stuart Price after 15 years, saying their chemistry returned naturally, as they have “a really great shorthand for creating music together.”
The celebration continued throughout the weekend with TikTok House of Confessions, immersive fan pop-ups in New York City and London inspired by the world of Confessions II. Each experience invited fans to step inside the album through immersive visuals, curated merch, exclusive listening moments, interactive photo opportunities, and creator-first spaces designed for fans to make their own album-inspired content.
