Rod Stewart postpones his June 15 and 16 Red Rocks shows at his doctor’s request to rest his voice as he recovers from laryngitis. But fans are once again upset at the last-minute call-off.

After cancelling his San Diego show last week due to illness that was later diagnosed as laryngitis, Rod Stewart postponed additional shows this week at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. Stewart originally expressed his intent to play the June 15 and 16 shows despite his illness, but an announcement from the venue on social media revealed that a doctor had advised otherwise.

“Following examinations at Colorado Voice Clinic this afternoon, Dr. David Opperman has prescribed vocal rest for Rod Stewart,” the post explained. “Evaluation revealed significant inflammation and strain of the vocal folds, making it impossible for him to safely perform without the risk of further injury and potential long-term damage to his voice.”

“Rod is deeply disappointed and sincerely apologizes to his fans for this inconvenience,” the post continued. “He looks forward to returning to the stage as soon as he is medically cleared.”

The Red Rocks shows have been rescheduled to September 2 and 3, 2027, the venue announced. Tickets will be valid for the rescheduled shows, and ticketholders will receive an email with more information.

Unfortunately, the announcement was on June 15, shortly before the first of the two shows was expected to take place. That upset fans who felt there should have been earlier notice, especially since the rock icon knew last week that he was sick and had already postponed his San Diego performance.

“Why wait an hour before the show?” one fan complained on the former Twitter. “Bartenders and other staff had been called off hours ago? Unacceptable.”

Fans were even more upset by the fact that Stewart was seen across the country at a FIFA World Cup game the morning after his nixed San Diego concert. A representative for Stewart explained that a doctor had given him steroids and other treatment to help boost his immune system, originally hoping he would be well enough to play the San Diego show.

Stewart’s next scheduled appearance is June 19 in West Valley, Utah, and that show is still set to go ahead as of publication. However, ticketholders should be aware that things could change before Friday night, just in case the artist isn’t yet well enough to perform.
