EXCLUSIVE: Following the shocking revelation involving Elizabeth Perkins‘ character in the Season 1 finale of Big Mistakes, the Weeds alumna has been promoted to a series regular for the upcoming second season of Netflix‘s crime comedy.
Created by Dan Levy and Rachel Senott, Big Mistakes follows Nicky (Levy) and Morgan (Taylor Ortega), two deeply incapable siblings who are in over their heads when a misguided theft for their dying grandmother accidentally pulls them into the world of organized crime.
SPOIL ALERT: The following graph includes a detail about Big Mistakes Season 1 finale.
When someone of Perkins’ caliber is cast in a recurring role, they won’t be expected to just linger in the background. Perkins, introduced as the rich real estate agent mother of Morgan’s (Ortega) fiancé Max (Jack Innanen), did just that for most of Season 1 until she was revealed as the mob boss running the local organized crime ring in the finale. That sets up Season 2 of Big Mistakes, which was recently ordered by Netflix.
In addition to Levy, Ortega and Innanen, Perkins joins series regulars Laurie Metcalf, Abby Quinn and Boran Kuzum.
Levy, who serves as showrunner, and Senott executive produces alongside Anne-Marie McGintee for Not a Real Production Company, Dean Holland (101, 102), Etan Frankel and Timothy Greenberg.
Perkins, a three-time Emmy nominee for Showtime’s Weeds, was recently seen in the movies The Housemaid and Another Simple Favor. She next recurs on the FX limited series Cry Wolf. Perkins is repped by Gersh and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
