Sci-fi adventure game Pragmata will almost definitely be getting a sequel, according to Capcom bosses.

Released in April, Pragmata is “a unique, sci-fi action-adventure game” from Capcom. “Follow Hugh, a member of an ill-fated investigation team, and Diana, a young android, as they navigate a lunar facility taken over by rogue AI in search of a way to Earth,” reads a description of the game.

Despite being a brand new IP, Pragmata was well-received by both critics and fans with many praising the shooter/puzzling mechanic that makes up the core gameplay, as well as the emotionally-driven story. According to Capcom, Pragmata has already sold more than 2.5million units. The game’s ending seemed pretty final but bosses have said a sequel will probably happen.

Capcom’s corporate officer Yoshikazu Shimauchi said the “likelihood of a sequel is high” after Pragmata’s sales exceeded expectations. The company hopes the IP can be developed into a “pillar franchise and a source of longer-term revenue” (via Bloomberg). Capcom believes some of Pragmata’s success comes down to “the appeal of main character, Diana.”

Earlier this year, director Yonghee Cho said he’d “of course” want to make a sequel. “But I’m not the only one who decides, so unfortunately I can’t really comment beyond that,” he added (via Eurogamer).

Pragmata is a fun, thrilling sci-fi romp,” NME wrote in our five-star review. “The combat/hacking mechanic evolves the shooter genre in a refreshing way, while the tale of villainous AI, rogue 3D printers and unlikely human connection blends the horror elements with something more wholesome. This is a sleek, polished package from legendary developer Capcom that makes every minute of its to-the-point 12-hour playtime matter.”

Capcom have also said they want to release a new Resident Evil game every year.

In other news Naughty Dog, the studio behind Uncharted and The Last Of Us, will reportedly release their new game next year.
