Molly McNearney is opening up about her romance with Jimmy Kimmel.
If you didn’t know, the 48-year-old TV writer and producer worked at Jimmy Kimmel Live! before falling in love with the host.
She was at the show for eight years when someone asked everyone to share their favorite foods during a meeting, she explained on the latest episode of the Armchair Expert podcast.
“Pizza and gnocchi, crab claws, BLT and chocolate chip cookies,” she said, noting that Jimmy prepared all of them for her six months later.

“Talk about a long play,” she reflected.
“I go to Jimmy’s house, he asks me to come over after work … and he opens up the door and it smells delicious and he’s like, ‘I made some things,’ and it was pizza and gnocchi, crab claws, chocolate chop cookies and BLT.”
Why Molly Thought Dating Her Boss Was a “Terrible Idea”
Dax Shepard asked whether she “immediately register[ed] that as, ‘Oh, he wants to f–k.’”
“Yes! It made me very excited and very nervous. I remember thinking, ‘Oh, no. This is a bad idea.’ He was my boss,” she explained.
Jimmy insisted that he “didn’t have that thought at the time.”
“The person in power usually doesn’t, but I was very nervous about it. I thought it was a terrible idea. … I was very skittish,” Molly insisted.
“I just kept thinking statistically this is not going to work out and your life isn’t going to change but mine does. And that’s what freaked me out. Because I had worked really really hard.”
How They Kept Their Relationship Secret
The two eventually did hit it off and did some “sneaking” for a while before their relationship became public.
“The first few months, we were very very quiet. I was very nervous about it changing the work dynamic and I was in a room of mostly men and we had a great thing going on … and I didn’t want it to change,” she admitted.
The couple started dating in 2009 and got engaged in 2012 on vacation in South Africa. They got married in Ojai in 2013.
They have since welcomed two children together: Jane and Billy. He also has kids Katie and Kevin from his first marriage to Gina Maddy. Watch the episode above.
