Four years after TikToker Brooke Eby was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), she died at the age of 37, according to The ALS Network, an organization she had previously partnered with.
âThe ALS Network joins the ALS community in mourning the passing of Brooke Eby,â the organization shared in an Oct. 1 statement, âan extraordinary advocate, storyteller, community builder, and friend whose honesty, humor and determination changed how countless people understood ALS.â
The group emphasized how Ebyâknown online as Limpbroozkitâused her social media to document her ALS journey with tongue-in-cheek comedy, which helped educate her viewers on the condition also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
âShe brought humor into incredibly difficult moments, spoke with fearless honesty, and created connection where it was desperately needed,â ALS Network President and CEO Sheri Strahl added in the organizationâs statement. âWe are heartbroken by her passing and profoundly grateful that we had the privilege of knowing her, working alongside her, and celebrating her.â
Strahl added, âBrookeâs impact will live on in every person she reached and throughout the community she created.â
As for why Eby chose to use humor as her way of connecting with audiences?Â
âEveryone was a lot more comfortable with my situation when I was laughing,â she wrote in a January 2025 essay published in People, âand that came back around to make me feel more comfortable too.â
While Eby had documented her symptoms since 2022, the illnessâ toll on her body had rapidly progressed within the last year, prompting her to have a feeding tube installed in June 2025.
In January, the TikToker shared she had begun to have difficulty speaking and swallowing, which was also the topic of one her last social media posts.
âIâm not ready to give up talking,â she said in a Sept. 3 TikTok. âAlso, my head and neck have to be in the exact right position for me to even get any words to come out. I canât tell if my breath isnât strong enough to fight the breathing machine anymore or if itâs just my lips are weak.â
However, with her signature wit, Eby quipped, âBut you know what they say, loose lips sink⊠Brookeâs will to live.â
But before her death, the influencer reflected on what she hoped part of her legacy would be.
âMy TikTok presence will live on after I die,â she continued in her People essay. âI hope it serves as a visual diary for anyone who gets diagnosed and needs a guide.âÂ
