EXCLUSIVE: The trailer for Avengers Endgame: Encore netted 77M views in its first 24 hours, which is over four times the amount of any previous trailer re-release.

Top Gun (1986) earned 19M views in the first 24 hours of the trailer re-release ahead of the film soaring back into theaters in May 2026 for a one-week 40th anniversary run alongside Top Gun: Maverick. James Cameron’s first Avatar film rerelease trailer got 14M views, and the re-release trailer for Titanic got 13M.

We heard the conversation around the social volume was spurred by eagerness for Doomsday footage, nostalgia for the theatrical experience of Avengers: Endgame in 2019 when the film first came out, fans’ personal connection to Endgame and jokes about Endgame spoilers.

Re-releasing in theaters Sept. 25, Avenger: Endgame held the record for second highest grossing film at the domestic box office up until Spider-Man: Brand New Day dethroned the concluding Marvel movie. The special Encore presentation of Endgame includes an exclusive look at the highly anticipated December 18 release of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday. An additional sneak peek at the film will also be available to audiences who see Avengers Endgame: Encore on IMAX and Infinity Vision-certified screens.

Avengers: Doomsday has been building momentum since Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Unvierse as Victor Von Doom was first announced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2024.

Avengers: Endgame is highly recommended as required viewing ahead of Doomsday for those wanting to be caught up on their comic book lore going into the next installment. The re-release trailer featured footage from opening night on April 26, 2019 during the popular scene in which all of the Marvel heroes come together to defeat Thanos with Captain America’s (Steve Rogers) words, “Avengers assemble!”

It seems that Doomsday could echo the epic coming together of the entire MCU — which has expanded since the release of Endgame — with a stacked cast confirmed for the film. Several X-Men and Captain America films are also on the docket for refreshers to watch.
