A new report was published today suggesting Lionel Richie is back in the hospital and canceled three upcoming tour dates.
Now, his rep confirmed to Just Jared that the 77-year-old icon underwent a “common procedure” for AFib.
If you don’t know, a few weeks ago, Lionel was actually in the hospital and admitted to the ICU “to have some tests run” after falling ill during his concert that night. He was eventually released in early September.

TMZ first reported that Lionel was in the hospital. As a result, Lionel and Earth, Wind & Fire’s “Sing a Song All Night Long” shows for the next 3 dates are canceled.
Now, Lionel‘s rep has also released a statement confirming he’s being treated for AFib.
“Lionel underwent a common procedure for Atrial fibrillation (AFib). The doctor said everything went perfectly. Lionel is doing great but will take some time off and will be back on stage soon,” his rep told Just Jared.
What is AFib?
According to the Mayo Clinic, “Atrial fibrillation (AFib) is an irregular and often very rapid heart rhythm. An irregular heart rhythm is called an arrhythmia.” The hospital added, “During atrial fibrillation, the heart’s upper chambers, called the atria, beat chaotically and irregularly. They beat out of sync with the lower heart chambers, called the ventricles. AFib may cause a fast, pounding heartbeat, shortness of breath or light-headedness. Some people don’t notice symptoms.”
