Russell Wilson wants to draft a new member to his team.

Indeed, the retired NFL quarterback said he is open to expanding his family’s roster—and is hoping his wife Ciara will give the green light.

“We have four amazing kids and I'm trying to convince Ciara to have a fifth,” Russell told E! News during an exclusive interview at Fanatics Fest in New York City July 17. “Cinco, you got to be on the way soon.”

But as it turns out, the 37-year-old—dad to kids Sienna Princess, 9, Win Harrison, 5, and Amora Princess, 19 months, with Ciara, as well as stepdad to son Future Zahir, 12, from Ciara’s previous relationship with rapper Future—may not have much play-calling to do.

“I want to have five, Ciara does too,” he continued. “We'll see. Hopefully, I can convince her.”

Of course, Russell—who celebrated a decade of marriage with Ciara earlier this month—has been vocal about how much he loves being a dad and what the role has taught him, especially when it comes to being a stepdad to Future.

“It was a blessing and an opportunity to really hopefully be there for him every day,” the athlete told GQ in 2021, “and try to care for him in a way that was important for me, that I always wanted someone to do for me. Like my dad did for me.”

In fact, he emphasized that the “greatest thing” he’s ever learned was rooted in his relationship with his stepson.

“The reality of being a stepparent is that biologically they’re not necessarily yours,” he continued, “but the reality is that you have to love them as if they are. They’re your own blood in a way. You get to love them that way. And I think every kid deserves that and needs that and yearns for that.”

And while he was playing football, his and Ciara’s home life was always what Russell cherished most.

"Every day I come home from work and it's late at night, it's after film and practice and all that,” he added, “and me and Ciara are together, and we just smile from ear-to-ear in the kitchen because we realize that our family is a beautiful blended family but it's also our family. It's us."
