Greta Thunberg is calling out Ed Sheeran as the fallout surrounding Macklemore‘s removal—followed by all of Ed‘s opening acts withdrawing—from the Loop Tour continues.
The 22-year-old activist joined the Humaniti Project in sharing a pointed message after Ed defended himself against accusations that he was responsible for Macklemore being dropped from the remaining tour dates.
“We are witnessing one of the biggest artists in the world being cancelled because they tried to ‘both sides’ Israel’s genocide against the Palestinian people,” the statement began.
“This is a clear and undeniable sign that the global consciousness has shifted. The normalisation of an apartheid state, and the attempts to sanitise or justify its actions, will no longer be tolerated.”
The post continued, “Ed, there is only one victim here: the Palestinian people.”
“Every artist dropping out of the tour, and every fan cancelling their ticket, is choosing to stand with their conscience rather than participate in complicity with apartheid and genocide,” the statement read. “We must use this moment to strengthen and expand BDS. Not only against artists who cross the picket line to perform in the apartheid state, but against those who refuse to call a thing what it is.”
“Israel is committing genocide. Free Palestine,” the statement concluded.

Greta‘s pose comes after Finneas, Aaron Rowe, Lukas Graham, and Irish band Boega withdrew from the tour in solidarity with Macklemore.
Ed previously insisted that the promoter made the decision to remove the rapper and said he had spent the week attempting to find a resolution.
