EXCLUSIVE: The Yellow Affair has boarded world sales on Lindsey Ryan’s Capsized starring Rhys Ifans, Lily Rabe, Sarah Catherine Hook and Griffin Gluck.
In the film, “a family’s ‘vacation’ spirals into a turbulent journey as they grapple with lost homes, fractured identities and the grip of a troubled patriarch.”
The movie is set to make its U.S. premiere at the Hamptons International Film Festival this weekend, continuing its festival run following a world premiere in competition at the Edinburgh International Film Festival this summer.
The synopsis reads: “When foreclosure strips the O’Briens of their home, their erratic patriarch launches one last grand plan: a nautical escape and a high-stakes fishing tournament to win it all back. In the close quarters of the boat, the family’s fragile equilibrium, long organised around his volatility, begins to crack. As Nicole refuses the role she’s been taught to play, her mother is forced to confront the cost of building a life around a man who demands devotion but can’t offer safety. What was meant to save them becomes the moment they must choose whether to finally let him fall.”
Pic is written and directed by Lindsey Ryan. The film is produced by Samantha Scolarici of Lost at Sea Films, Paul Mezey of Present Company Productions, and Dan Janvey, with Rebecca Wyzan also of Present Company Productions, serving as co-producer.
Executive producers include Eliot Horowitz, Sara McFarlane, Rhys Ifans, Jason Reif, and Andrew Goldman.
“I’m thrilled to be partnering with The Yellow Affair. Making an independent film requires an almost unreasonable amount of faith, so finding a partner who immediately understands what you’ve made feels like a small miracle. Steven and Alexandra saw the heart of Capsized from the start, and I am so happy to have them helping us bring it into the world, especially as we prepare for our U.S. premiere at the Hamptons International Film Festival. Having grown up on Long Island, it feels especially meaningful to bring the film home,” said Lindsey Ryan, writer-director.
