The highly-anticipated roller coaster Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift has finally announced an official opening date!

The coaster will be Universal Studios Hollywood’s first outdoor, high-speed roller coaster and it is promised to be unlike any ride the park has ever offered before. The ride celebrates the Fast & Furious franchise, which has grossed $7 billion at the box office across 11 movies, with a 12th film hitting theaters in March 2028.

While the coaster has already been open on select dates for a soft launch, the official opening is set for September 16, 2026.

The ride has such intricate dynamics that all riders will have to put belongings in complimentary lockers and go through metal detectors before entering the ride platform, similarly to Universal Studios Orlando’s Velocicoaster.

The park has revealed some cool details about the ride:

A unique dual-launching, split-ride track will alternate trains from dispatch to propel guests on an epic adventure that will take them over and under portions of the multilevel Starway escalator, through four spectacular launches, an exciting inverted dive loop, twisted pretzel loop and inverted stall, among others, at speeds of up to 72 MPH and a force of up to 3.6 Gs along 4,100 feet of elaborate aerial track constructed with sound-reduction technology while drifting at 360-degrees in their individual ride vehicles.

The ride vehicles are designed to look like four iconic cars from the Fast franchise: the Dodge Charger, Mazda RX-7, Nissan Skyline GT-R and the Toyota Supra.
