EXCLUSIVE: Peri Gilpin, known for her celebrated role as Ros in Frasier, will guest star in the second season of Acorn TV’s You’re Killing Me, led and executive produced by Brooke Shields.
Gilpin will play Allie’s (Shields) sister, Audra Chandler, a critically acclaimed writer with more awards than William Faulkner. Her pieces have been published in the most prestigious journals in the literary world, which drives Allie up the wall because, despite being a commercial success, she’s never felt she’s measured up to her seemingly perfect sister. But when Audra finds herself embroiled in a murder mystery while visiting Allie, their complicated relationship — and how it evolves — becomes the heart of the story.
In addition to Shields, the series also stars Amalia Williamson as Andi and Tom Cavanagh as Jack.
In Season 2, Allie and Andi’s first novel together is about to hit bookstores as an instant New York Times bestseller. But instead of celebrating that success, Andi is worried she’ll be seen as an opportunist rather than a legitimate co-author. So, she is secretly determined to prove she has the talent to stand on her own. Meanwhile, Allie tries to find her romantic footing with Jack, which isn’t easy when she and Andi keep stumbling into murders that put their friendship, their careers, and sometimes their lives on the line.
Season 2, set in the Maine town of Founder’s Cove, will consist of six hour-long episodes and is currently in production.
You’re Killing Me is created by Robin Bernheim and is a co-production between Shaftesbury and Topsail. Bernheim and Shields executive produce alongside Christina Jennings and Scott Garvie for Shaftesbury, Mike Volpe for Topsail and Dan March for Dynamic Television, as well as James Genn, Lee Goldberg, Phoef Sutton and Derek Thompson. AMC Studios and Dynamic Television hold worldwide distribution rights outside Canada.
Gilpin is repped by Affirmative Entertainment and Brecheen Feldman Breimer Silver & Thompson.
