EXCLUSIVE: The Gotham Group has signed Angela C. Santomero, creator and executive producer of popular children’s shows Blue’s Clues, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Super Why and Princess Penelope’s Purse of Preposterous Things, among others.
A seminal name in children’s entertainment, Santomero has created more than 10 award-winning series for major global platforms, three books for adults and numerous children’s books based on her series. Her original storybook series, Princess Penelope’s Purse of Preposterous Things, is setting records on YouTube Kids with over 8.5 million views since its premiere in February 2026.
Santomero’s vision for integrating educational curriculum into entertaining kids’ content led her to co-create, executive produce and head write for Nick Jr. ‘s landmark series, Blue’s Clues. Through its “interactive-first” format, the series became a global phenomenon, redefining early childhood education on screen, and spawning a multi-billion-dollar franchise.
Santomero created 2006’s Super Why for PBS Kids, and its spinoff Super Why’s Comic Book Adventures is set to launch in October. She also created Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, now in its eighth season, to promote children’s television pioneer Fred Roger’s legacy.
Santomero is the recipient of two Peabody Awards, two Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Preschool Series from 25+ nominations, two TCA Awards, and multiple Parents Choice Gold Awards.
“Angela Santomero is one of the most defining voices in children’s entertainment — a visionary whose work has shaped how generations of young audiences experience storytelling,” said Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Founder & CEO of The Gotham Group. “Her singular ability to connect with children, parents and caregivers on a profound and meaningful level has left an indelible mark on the landscape of kids’ media. We are truly honored to partner with Angela at The Gotham Group and to help bring her extraordinary future projects to audiences around the world.”
Added Santomero: “I’m thrilled to work with the visionary Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Matt Shichtman, and the Gotham team as we continue to innovate and elevate kids’ media. With Gotham as a partner, Santo Studios – led by its latest hit property, Princess Penelope – is well positioned to become a major entertainment company and build a successful preschool franchise focused on bringing positivity to the world.”
