Although Nicole Kidman has no shortage of roles to keep her busy, don’t expect her to make an appearance in the Dune franchise.

The Oscar-winning actress recently expressed regret that Denis Villeneuve never asked her to star in his trilogy based on Frank Herbert’s space opera, admitting she’d “just want to watch” the movies instead.

“I’d love to be in the Dune sequel. I’m a ‘Dunie’. I’m obsessed with Dune. I’m obsessed,” she said on Vogue’s Off the Cuff, when Sandra Bullock asked her why she’s not in the franchise. “Because Denis never asks me to be in anything. It’s devastating.”

Kidman added, “I actually don’t want to be in it, because I just want to be able to watch them.”

After mouthing to Villeneuve through the camera, “call her,” Bullock quipped to Kidman, “You wouldn’t like the sand.”

With Dune: Part Three, premiering Dec. 18 in theaters, Villeneuve completes his trilogy based on Herbert’s books.

Meanwhile, the HBO spin-off series Dune: Propechy was renewed for Season 2 back in December 2024, with production kicking off last November in Hungary, Jordan and Spain.
