Jeremy Clarkson has revealed that he his thinking about life after Diddly Squat Farm.
The British presenter has just wrapped Season 6 of Clarkson’s Farm for Amazon Prime Video, but said he was uncertain about whether the show would continue for another season (though he did not completely rule out a renewal).
Speaking at the Royal Television Society London Convention, Clarkson said his thoughts had turned to developing a new “unbelievably ambitious” show, though he did not offer any specifics.
“We wrapped Season 6 of Clarkson’s Farm final yesterday, and Season 7 is kind of [like]: ‘What are we going to do?'” Clarkson said he is thinking about “fewer, bigger, better” ideas that can cut through with audiences.
“We’re currently thinking about what we do after Clarkson’s Farm, and it’s going to have to be something bigger to stand out to protect us from this onslaught from [social media content] underneath. It has to be unbelievably ambitious,” he said.
Clarkson added: “It’s very difficult to make a television show work unless you’re cooking on the moon or doing something incredible, and that’s where I think television has to get bigger, lose scheduling, and get bigger.”
The former Grand Tour and Top Gear host added that British broadcasters, including the BBC and Channel 4, have to consolidate to survive. He advocated for a “BritFlix” streaming service, which can carry clout with UK audiences.
Clarkson’s Farm has become one of Amazon Prime Video’s biggest UK success stories. Season 5 followed Clarkson as he was diagnosed with cancer and suffered a heart scare. He later said his cancer was in remission.
