While The Odyssey approaches $200M domestic after its first week, John Leguizamo is drawing a line for the movie’s fandom.
The Golden Globe nominee recently called out ICE supporters on social media, telling them “don’t watch my movies” if they advocate for the actions of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
“If you follow ICE, unfollow me,” said Leguizamo in video, which was shared by Headquarters Newsroom. “Don’t come to my shows, and don’t watch my movies.”
Leguizamo, who can currently be seen in The Odyssey, has been a vocal opponent of ICE. In January, he joined the NYC theater community in “The People’s Filibuster” protest against the federal agency after the killings of U.S. citizens Alex Pretti, Renee Good and Keith Porter Jr. by ICE agents.
An adaptation of one of the oldest stories in human history, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey follows Odysseus (Matt Damon) through the incredible trials and mythical encounters he faces on his decade-long journey home to wife Penelope (Anne Hathaway) and son Telemachus (Tom Holland) after the Trojan War.
The film also stars Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong’o, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin, Samantha Morton, Jesse Garcia, Will Yun Lee, Rafi Gavron, Shiloh Fernandez, Mia Goth, Travis Scott and more.
Elon Musk and his ilk have recently made a stink about the ethnicity of some of the adaptation’s cast, which Nolan has dismissed as “irrelevant.”
