In fact, the actor earned some "big time" cool points with son Robert, 15, and Finn, 12, with his role in Rolling Loud: The Movie, which was filmed at the titular music festival with Travis Scott and Sexxy Red in 2024.
"My kids were such big fans of Travis and Sexxy Red and so meeting them, I was getting a lot of street cred," Wilson exclusively told E! News at the film's Los Angeles premiere Sept. 30. "My two boys were with me in Miami when I went on stage with Travis Scott, so that was pretty amazing."
But that's not to say Robert and Finn—who Wilson shares with exes Jade Duell and Caroline Lindqvist, respectively—are looking to get into the rap game themselves.
"They both want to be [Christiano] Ronaldo and [Lionel] Messi because they're really into soccer," the 57-year-old shared. "But maybe showbiz will call for them."
And while it's "probably too early to tell" if his sons will follow his footsteps into acting, Wilson—who also shares 7-year-old daughter Lyla with Varunie Vongsvirates—did tap into personal experience for his performance in the comedy, which centers on a dad who loses his son at Rolling Loud.
"As a kid going to the fair or Six Flags with your parents, they'd always be like, 'OK if we get separated, we're going to meet at the roller coaster,'" he said. "That's a theme every parent kind of deals with, so this movie just sort of ramps that feeling up to the nth degree."
Speaking of onscreen parents, the Meet the Parents alum was thrilled about reuniting with Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro in the upcoming Focker-In-Law, the Fockers franchise's fourth installment also starring Ariana Grande.
"Being with Ben and De Niro," Wilson shared, "it was great to think that all these years later, this movie that we did so long ago, people have embraced it in such a great way."
